In tonight’s Captivating Bible Study, we identified and discussed the messages that come with our wounds, and what we have been wounded into believing about ourselves. When we allow our wounds to stay buried deep in the crevices of our hearts, even though they are hidden, they have messages attached to them, lies we believe about ourselves. Some of the lies that were shared are:
and the list goes on.
The thoughts we entertain and the words we speak over ourselves are so important. Scripture says that life and death are in the power of the tongue:
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. (Proverbs 18:31).
It is vitally important that we ask the Lord to give us a revelation of His heart towards us and begin to not only think upon these things, but speak these things over ourselves. We must begin to believe that what Christ says about us is truth and begin to take every thought captive and align ourselves with the mind of Christ.
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5)
The journey to allowing God to heal our hearts so that we can be free to be all He has created us to be begins with a simple “YES”. It begins with fully surrendering to God and TRUSTING Him with our heart – exposed, vulnerable, naked, raw. Once we say yes to God, we can move onto the following steps:
Once we’ve done all of the above, we again ask Him these questions (which were asked in Week 1): “What do you think of me as a woman?”, “Do You delight in me?”, “Am I captivating to You?” And now we await His response.
You will be a crown of splendor in the LORD’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God. 4 No longer will they call you Deserted, or name your land Desolate. But you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the LORD will take delight in you, and your land will be married. (Isaiah 62:3-4)
Until next week.
