Daddy’s Little Girl

I have an amazing earthly father.  He loves and cares for me so well.  When I was a little girl, I loved to sit on my daddy’s lap and snuggle.  We would watch tv together, read books, or share a snack.  When I was close to my daddy, I felt loved, protected and safe.

My Heavenly Father lavishes His love on me.

He pulls me close, onto His lap, where I can feel His heart beat.  And there, in His arms of love, I feel safe and secure.

See what great love the Father has lavished on us.. (1 John 3:1)

My Daddy would often come home from work with little gifts for us.  Gum and candy mostly.  Not expensive gifts.  But it was his way of showing his love and it brought smiles to our faces.  We would wait with anticipation until daddy got home to see what he would bring to us.

My Heavenly Father loves to give me good gifts.

Sometimes they are big.  Most often they are small and immaterial.  Sunsets, raindrops, birds singing.  I am learning to open my eyes to see the gifts that my Heavenly Father has given to me.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.  (James 1:17)

My Daddy would give me piggy backs and let me ride on his back.  I would sit on his back and he would take off galloping down the hallway on all fours.  It was so much fun to play and laugh with my daddy.

My Heavenly Father delights over me.

He loves to hear me laugh.  He rejoices over me with singing.

The LORD your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”  (Zephaniah 3:17)

Daddy worked hard to provide for our family, often working 2 jobs just to make sure we had enough money to eat and pay the bills.  Times weren’t always easy, but we always had what we needed, thanks to daddy.

My Father in Heaven has no lack.

His storehouse is full to overflowing.  He has everything that I could ever want or need.  He holds the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven.  I am rich as a daughter of the King of Kings.

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  (Matthew 6:31-31)

Daddy use to tuck me in and kiss me goodnight.  I didn’t like the dark as a child, and it was comforting to know that I wasn’t alone at night.  Daddy was always there.

My Father in Heaven is light, and in Him there is no darkness.

I do not have to be afraid when I cannot see, for I know that my Heavenly Father will always lead and guide me.

God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.  (1 John 1:5b)

I am my daddy’s little girl.

Happy Father’s Day daddy!  I love you so very much.  Thank you for helping me to become the woman that I am today.

And I am the delight of my Father in Heaven.

A daughter of the King of Kings!  The One who loves me with an everlasting love!
