17 In My 5 Minute Fridays

Today I am linking up with The Gypsy Mama for the Five Minute Friday.  I am taking just 5 minutes to write from my heart to yours, without worrying about perfection.  No editing, to back tracking.  Just words freely flowing from the overflow of my heart.

Today’s Prompt:  Growing

My garden was withered and dying.
No one came to tend it, so it was left alone.
Forsaken, desolate.
But then the Master Gardener came.
I wanted to hide.  Surely He would find no beauty in my garden.
But the rays of sunshine that shone forth from His face
immediately brought life to my dry and withered garden.

He carefully and gently tended my garden.
He dug up the dry and hard ground.
He brought rain to the places that were dehydrated.
He brought food so that I could begin to grow again.

It started with just a seed.
brought to a desolate, dry and weary garden.
But it was a seed of promise.  A seed of hope.  A seed of life.
The Master Gardener planted the seed of life
in the garden of my heart.
One seed, bringing life-giving sustenance to my withered garden.

That withered garden was my heart.
The places in me that only knew hurt, pain and disappointment.
The dry and parched patches of land that were burned and scorched
by years of lack of the very thing that could feed it.

And it started with a seed.
That seed is continuing to bring strength.
No longer is my garden desolate, forsaken.
No, the Master Gardner says, “My delight is in You”.

My garden is growing, blooming, becoming alive again.
It is not yet complete.  The work is not finished.
But my garden is growing.
Thank you, Master Gardener, for coming to tend
to the garden of my heart.

No longer will they call you Deserted, or name your land Desolate. But you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the LORD will take delight in you, and your land will be married.  (Isaiah 62:4)

Why don’t you join us this week.  I promise it’s not scary.  Here’s how:
1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. Go a little overboard encouraging the writer who linked up before you.

Love it Barbie!  That is beautiful.  Too funny that you and I both called God the Master Gardener in our posts today.  I can feel Song of Solomon in your heart as you write now.  I don’t know how to say it other than that.

    Love & hugs my Sister,

I just read your post and commented about us both referring to God as the Master Gardener. Our hearts are so similar. I love how He brought us together.

The Master Gardener says, “My delight is in you.”  How amazing!  Makes me think of Zephaniah 3:17  “The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great
delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over
    you with singing.”
    Many blessings!

This is one of my most favorite scriptures.  Oh how he delights in us and dances over us with JOY!  Have a beautiful weekend.
