Five Minute Friday: Grow

I am linking up to the 5 Minute Friday on Saturday!  I never want to miss an opportunity to write freely for just 5 minutes, without worrying about perfection!

Today’s Word:  Grow

Ready…Set…Go!

I laid him down for the night, this beautiful boy of mine.  As we prayed, he shared that he was experiencing pains in his legs.  “Those are growing pains”.  I shared with him that sometimes when we grow, we experience pain.  GrowingStretching.  This is how we get bigger.  This is how we mature.  As I began to pray that God would watch over him as he slept, I asked the Father to take away his pain, so that He would have a restful night’s sleep.  And do you know what my little man of 7 years of wisdom said to me?  “Mommy, don’t ask Jesus to take away my pain, because then I won’t grow.”

I don’t ever want to impede the growing process in my life.  I want to grow into maturity and fullness in Christ. And sometimes this means I will experience pain.  Deep levels of pain at times.  Pain that goes to the root, but only so as to dig up the things in my life that impede my growth.

He is the perfect gardener, and He tends my heart so well.  He will never leave me alone as I experience pain in the process of growing.  He will tenderly care for me. I love that about my Father in Heaven.

So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. (1 Corinthians 3:7)

Are you experiencing growing pains?  Your tender Father in heaven will bring you through.

Stop.

now if growing pains isn’t the best analogy ever, don’t know what is!  this is so so true.  i needed this reminder, especially tonight.
