You Are Aleady Amazing {Book Review}

If I were to pull up a chair along side of you and whisper in your ear, “You are amazing”, would you believe me?  I am certain that some of you could honestly answer “yes” to this question.  And it’s because you have already arrived at a place where these words of truth are deeply rooted in your heart.

Still, others of you might cringe at those words.  I know I do.

Who me?  Amazing?  Really?  I don’t think so.

I have been so encouraged by reading Holley Gerth’s blog.  She has a way of communicating the heart of God that often brings me to tears as I realize my worth and value.  So I was thrilled when I was offered the opportunity to review her new book, You’re Already Amazing – Embracing Who You Are, Becoming All God Created You To Be.  You see, I haven’t arrived at that place where I can throw my head back and embrace this fact — that “I’m already amazing”.  Not because of anything that I do.  No ministry, job or talent can make me amazing.  I simply am.  And the only reason I am is because God made me that way.

I wasn’t sure what to expect.  I was not anticipating the tears that fell as I began to read.  I was not prepared for the layers that have been gently peeled away from my heart.  I could especially identify with Chapter 3, “Why is it so hard to believe I’m amazing?”

I’ve lived too long believing the lies —

“You’re not good enough.  You’ll never amount to anything.  You don’t fit in here…or anywhere.”  But what does God say?  Does God really say I have what it takes?  Did God really say I am loved?  Did God really say that I have what it takes?

You see, somewhere early on in my life these lies came in and buried themselves deeply into the core of my heart.  But as Holley says, “at some point, we have to deliberately choose to put those lies behind us.”

It’s a choice.  A choice to lay hold of and believe the truth of who we are.  Did God really say….?  Yes He did!  Just in case you are wondering!

He says you are loved.
He says you are accepted.
He says you are chosen.
He says you are His.

This book spoke to hidden places in my heart and God is using it to bring me to a new level of freedom.  I am so grateful for Holley and the beautiful way that she communicates the heart of God and His truth.  This is a book that I could read again and again as a reminder that I am already amazing.

A copy of this book was provided to me free of charge in exchange for my honest review.  All opinions expressed are my own.
