Coffee, Jesus & An Invitation

If you were sitting with your best girlfriend sipping a cup of hot coffee, what words would spill out of your heart?  Would you keep the conversation surface deep, or would you feel safe enough to dive deeper into the core of what was truly on your mind and in your heart?  My girlfriends are a safe place where I allow myself to be vulnerable and share the depth of my heart — the good, the bad and the ugly.

When I meet with Jesus in the morning — or in the afternoons because sometimes I just can’t get up in the mornings — I love to have a cup of coffee in hand.  There is just something about the warmth, the aroma, and the intimacy that I feel in those moments.  As my mind is awakened by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, my heart is awakened by His love for me as I read His Words and reflect on His promises.

For those of you who have followed my blog for at least the last year, you will remember that I participated with The Nester and over 700 other bloggers in writing for 31 Days last October.  It was a challenge, but it was so good for my heart.  I wasn’t perfect, but I stayed the course.  I wrote on the topic of abiding in God’s presence. You can find all of the posts in that series here.

I am excited to participate again.  I prayed and asked the Lord what my topic should be and all I heard was, “I want to talk with you”.  I believe that as Jesus speaks to my heart, He will also speak to yours.

This October, I will be blogging for 31 days.  Are you curious as to the topic?

This blog series is about coffee and Jesus, and what happens to our hearts as the aroma of freshly brewed coffee is interwoven with the aroma of the love of a God who desires to share His heart with us.

I hope you will come along with me on this journey.  Please feel free to share this post with your girlfriends and invite them to come along as well!

Oh, I’m excited to read your 31 days. With a new baby coming, I won’t be able to participate on my own blog, but it will be good for my soul to read your series too. 🙂

  5. So glad you decided to step up to the challenge again. I’m almost 5 months into this blogging thing and I’ve connected with so many who took the challenge last year, that I want to do the same. It is a real challenge. I’m wrestling it out. As I do…do you have any tips or suggestions that will help make this a fun, not torturous 31 days?

  6. Looking forward to your October posts, friend! 🙂 Happy Tuesday!

  7. Since I blog at Jesus & My Orange Juice I obviously like morning beverages with my Jesus! This is a great challenge. It’s amazing how our life changes when we choose to connect with God in our absolutely ordinary lives!

  8. If I was sitting, with a girlfriend, sipping hot coffee, I would yell, “GROSS!” And spew hot liquid across the table! I do not like anything about coffee! Except its fans! 🙂

  9. I’ll be here as long as it doesn’t smell like coffee. =)

Good for you Barbie. I’ve often thought of participating in one of these 31 day blogging post series but haven’t so far …

What a great topic though. I’ll be tuning in to yours.

Oh…Barbie…this sounds so so wonderful. I’m really looking forward to reading your series on this. And I’m very tempted to join in on the fun myself. I’ve been feeling terrible writers block this month (with all the drama in my world) and I really need something to get me passionate about it again. What better way than to ask God to be my daily inspiration. I’m just not sure I could keep up with it. Praying…

I totally understand Rosann. If you feel a release from God, I say go for it. Even if you aren’t perfect, I think it would be so good for you! I am praying God gives me the strength to be consistent as well.
