Father of Lights {Review & Giveaway!}

I love spending the first moments of each day with the Lord in prayer.  Before I go about my day, I ask God to use me to shine His light to others so that they might see Jesus. Although I always let Him know that I am willing to “go where He goes” and “say what He says”, most often I just get up and go, and trust that God would bring me to the ones who need to encounter Him.

I was recently given an opportunity to review Father of Lights, and came face to face with a man who did not take a step before God told him where to go.  I was speechless as I watched him travel the world and share the gospel with those whom others might consider “impossible to reach”.  He spent the first part of His day in prayer, asking God to show Him where He needed to go, and who he needed to talk to.  This man was confident in who He was, and what God had asked Him to do. He went where God sent Him, and no where else.

He walked with boldness, fearlessly and full of faith as he trusted that God would guide his every step and protect Him along the way.  Guru’s, gang members, witch doctors and muslims all gave their hearts to Jesus because of a man who trusted God for His every step.  This man, like Jesus, was full of compassion and chose to love these individuals to Christ, instead of calling out their sin.

I was deeply moved and compelled to truly be the hands and feet of Christ to a lost and dying world.

About Father of Lights
FATHER OF LIGHTS chronicles the journey of filmmaker Darren Wilson and his team as they fearlessly travel the globe, far from the daily existence of the typical evangelical believer in the West. By thoughtfully documenting the stories of extraordinary believers and candidly filming miracles, visions and other supernatural occurrences, Wilson engages viewers in modern day examples of the true nature and character of God.

Wilson gives honest access to his own spiritual questions as he tackles the religious misconceptions he has struggled with throughout his life.  “I went into making this film by asking the simple question: who is God? I wanted to know His character, His personality, and who He truly is. To answer this question, we had to peel back the many layers of religious garbage that has been passed onto him through generations. That He is angry. Vengeful. Wrathful. And in general, that He doesn’t like you very much. The truth, as you will see vibrantly in this film, is that He is the most loving, compassionate, and wonderful Father you can imagine.”
