The Weekend Brew: Because (Five Minute Friday)

Today I am joining a beautiful community of writers for the Five Minute Friday where we are given a word prompt and write for just 5 minutes for the joy of writing.  No editing or backtracking necessary.  No need to be perfect.  This is where I get to write, letting it all go, allowing the words tucked away deep inside my heart to find their voice.

Because

FMF_Because

There were moments today when I felt as if I couldn’t breathe.  The weeks of putting my emotions in separate little compartments, in order to function and get through the tasks that needed to be accomplished leading up to today, well, they all came crashing down this evening.

Saying goodbye is never easy.  Saying goodbye to those who are like family, not just friends, those you run with in ministry is hard.  Sure, I will see them, every week, but my role that I’ve come to know and love here is ending, and really, I have yet to allow my emotions to have their way.

I know the Lord is kind.  He has a way of allowing us to tuck away our emotions, until such time that we can fully and completely meet them head on.  Because of His kindness, He will not allow me to be consumed.  He will allow me to experience the sadness. He will allow me to reflect on the seasons that have come and gone leading up to this day.  He will allow me to cry tears, because He promises to catch every one.

I’m not sure what this next season holds, but I know who holds the season.

[Tweet “The same God who allows the leaves to turn is turning the pages of my life. “]

I will choose to trust, because He has never failed me yet.  I will choose to lift my head, because the Son is shining.  I will choose to walk forth in confidence, knowing that He will open the next door, because my future is in His hands.

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  (Lamentations 3:22)

Barbie, beautiful words for a difficult season. I love the tweetable quote! And you are right…we walk through these emotions openly, acknowledging the pain and joy. It’s living life in the present. That open heart, open hand is such an important piece of the faith puzzle.

I love the image and the reminder that no matter what changes we face, our faithful God never changes. That is one thing we can count on. I wrote a blog post about trusting Him with our story, if you want to check it out (But What If It’s Not A Happy Ending?) Not sure if it’s okay to add links to the comments. Anyway, Barbie, thank you for the reminder and the link-up. Know that I will be praying for you. Keep the faith! Like Ann Voskamp says, “God is always good and we are always loved.”

    Hi Barbie,
Change and saying goodbye is very tough, especially for one as sensitive as you are. Praying that Father will lead you to a job that will fill the spot in you, not to replace your old job or friends, but to expand the work He is doing in you and that this new place will bring you joy and bring glory to Father’s Kingdom.

    Love and hugs.

He does do that – allow us to compartmentalize our emotions until we can deal with them! Lots of changes on the horizon here, too – some challenges, too. I am so glad He holds the plan!

Sometimes we don’t see the beauty in our pain until we have turned around to see what God has done. There is great faith in your testimony and I pray for strength and comfort as you place one foot in front of the other. You shared such raw truth, He will not allow us to be consumed, but he will allow us to cry … and we can know He catches our tears, and trust that each one is valued.

    May you be encouraged.
    Blessings,
    Dawn

It is so hard to go through times of transition- especially when you don’t know the end result. But your trust in God is beautiful! And that verse from Lamentations is one that I cling to! “Yet this I call to mind and therefore, I have hope!”
