I like familiar paths. I like seeing the same people every day and doing the same tasks. My feet are firmly planted and I can be pretty stubborn when I’m asked to move. Move can have a negative connotation for me. Several years ago we had to move from the home we owned for 16 years, in order to avoid foreclosure, as we were walking through an intense time of unemployment, surrounded by debt. So we packed our bags and moved not too far down the road.
Unfamiliar places. Unfamiliar faces. It can all be overwhelming.
Perhaps it wouldn’t be overwhelming if I would first seek God in the move. Things change. We move here and there, people come and go from our lives, promises are made and broken and made again. But even so, there is One who is constant, One who remains the same.
I may be asked to move, but I know that He has already gone before me, and He is preparing the way. Whether that be in a physical dwelling, a job, a church — God is on the move, on my behalf, and I know that the outcome will be glorious!
Has God asked you to move lately? Are you taking His hand and trusting Him through the process?
