My Hiding Place

H_HidingPlaceI don’t know about you, but when I am struggling, or feel as if I am under spiritual attack, I want to run and hide. But what I’ve found is no matter where I go, the struggle remains.

There is One in whom I can take refuge — God, my Hiding Place.

[tweetthis]As I abide in Christ, He hides me away in the shelter of His wings. #AttributesOfGodAtoZ @BarbieSwihart[/tweetthis]

In the day of trouble He hides me away in the secret place where I am comforted and strengthened in His Word.  He promises to guard and protect me so that no harm would come to me, and He surrounds me with songs of deliverance.

For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock. (Psalm 27:5)

On hard days when I find it hard to concentrate on the reading or the writing, worship music has been my saving grace. God has given me songs in scripture to sing back to Him which remind me that deliverance has come and is coming.

I came across this song, “Hiding Place” by Steven Curtis Chapman. I pray it will bless you today as you reflect on God as your Hiding place.

    Beautiful words! They also remind me that there is no where we can go to hide from Him. He is always there as a Good Loving Father.

      I thought of that very same truth, how God is always with us and we cannot escape Him. I wrote a psalm of my own based on that truth. If I can find it, I’ll share it.

    This made me think of this verse:
    Psalm 139:7-12

    7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
    Where can I flee from your presence?
    8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
    if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
    9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
    if I settle on the far side of the sea,
    10 even there your hand will guide me,
    your right hand will hold me fast.
    11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
    and the light become night around me,”
    12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
    the night will shine like the day,
    for darkness is as light to you.

    Such comfort.

    Much love to you, sweet friend.
    xoxo

    I do the same thing Barbie. Sometimes it is a struggle to pray or be in God’s word, either due to life weariness or soul weariness. And when I just don’t have it in me, I often turn to music. It either lifts me up,or lets me cry, but either way it’s usually just what this girl needs to get thru the day. Blessings to you. (And great to see you writing again!) :O

    So comforting this morning! I love your words and the verse and I also love the verses Beth referenced above from Psalm 139. I am not sure why hiding and isolating ourselves is our go to response when things get tough but I know that God meets us wherever we are.

    Thank you for being you and letting God speak through you. Love you!

    Thank you, Barbie, for writing this beautiful lesson and comforting words. I noticed to myself how liberating it is to be guided by Him in my dark days. There is only one safe place: close to his heart.

    xxx from me.

    I don’t usually listen to music much, but I’ve found myself turning to it more lately. I love harp music and have been listening to hymns on the harp recently. Have you heard of Hidden In My Heart? {if fits!}They are scripture lullabies. Scripture put to music. So comforting, so worshipful. This is one of my favorite scripture from Proverbs 18, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” There is power in His name, and He is indeed a strong hiding place for us. Thank you for this, Barbie, I’m getting so much out of this series!
