God’s love is extravagant. He spares no expense to show His affection to His children. The most extravagant display of love ever shown was Christ’s death on the cross.

Just today, I was reminded again of the extravagant way God shows His love. My youngest daughter was given a huge blessing. It was not on her grid, nor was it on ours. There was no reason we could think of for her to be the recipient of such an extravagant gift, but that is the awe and wonder of God. This is how God reminds us of His love. I reflected back on the day when someone bought us a Christmas tree, just because. Or the check we received in the mail for more than our rent, from someone we’ve never met.
It’s hard to miss the extravagant, “spare no expense” ways that God shows His love to us. But what about the more subtle, daily ways that God reminds us of His love? I’ve been on a journey of giving thanks for the simple, and I share my list every Monday here on the blog. Most of the things I list here are not considered extravagant gifts, but they are simple reminders that God is present in my life and delights to bring blessing.
Like the time I was missing my grandmother and God sent a cluster of butterflies to comfort me.
Or the time that I lost a piece of jewelry for weeks only to find it in the most ordinary place.
Or the time a former co-worker delivered flowers to my door step to say thank you for a job well done.
Even though these are not considered big blessings, they are still reminders of God’s extravagant love for us. You see, it’s not the size of the gift, but the heart of the giver. And God has a great big heart of love for His children. His love is extravagant and He displays it in both small and large ways. It's not the size of the gift, but the heart of the giver. #glimpsesofhisbeauty Click To Tweet
