Beauty Unfolds
All around me there is beauty. I see it to the degree that my eye has the capacity to see.
A budded rose.
A child’s eye.
My husband’s smile.
In the sunrise and the sunset.
The budded rose itself is beautiful, but when it unfolds, there is an even a deeper beauty revealed. And although my childrens’ eyes are beautiful, if I look long enough I might see into their souls. I am learning that there are layers to beauty. How far do I want to look to truly see the depth of this beauty?
This week, I am asking the Lord to help me to see beauty as it unfolds. Not just surface beauty. I don’t want to stop after seeing the obvious. I want to look deeper.
Continuing to count,
Grace gifts Nos. 126-140
126. A deer staring at me as I walk.
127. The sound of children laughing.
128. Being kidnapped by a friend for a pedicure and dinner.
129. Listening to my child read out loud.
130. The small yellow flowers starting to bloom on our tree.
131. A full night’s sleep (without visiting children).
132. A fresh manicure (a Mother’s Day gift from my daughter).
133. Handmade notes and cards.
134. My favorite dinner, home cooked by my husband.
135. Tea party with friends.
136. The desire to simplify.
137. Renewed energy and strength.

I am linking up with others who are sharing their journey of counting 1,000 gifts at A Holy Experience. Will you join me there? Or leave a comment letting me know how beauty is unfolding to you today.

Thanks Kimberly. I can’t take credit. It’s from a free stock photo site, which I just now realized I forgot to link to.
your list sounds relaxing! i love the thought of thankfulness deepening layer by layer.
I like your goal to see deeper.
#131 Do you get little visitors in the night? Sometimes Caleb gets up in the middle of the night. He used to do it almost every night and just get in bed by me and say my bed was so comfortable and he didn’t like his bed He doesn’t do that as much anymore, just comes in the night sometimes.
Yes, my 7 year old son still finds his way into my bed some nights. It’s the cutest thing really. But then after we snuggle, I fall asleep and I wake up with him still there!
ooh wow…the sound of children laughing always makes my heart smile. i want you to know that when i wake in the middle of night i grab my cell and log on to your blog for a little middle of the night blessing.
WOW Shelly! I cannot imagine someone reading my little ole blog in the middle of the night. I am thankful that you find encouragement here, no matter what the hour! I appreciate you!
I hope you had a blessed Mother’s Day! I pray too that I would see more the surface beauty in things.
Happy Monday dear friend.
Hugs
Jill
Thanks Jill! I will be praying for your eyes to be opened to more of His beauty!
