July Inspired Blogger & A Giveaway!

I am so excited to introduce you to my featured blogger for the month of July, Charis from at the gate called beautiful.

I have never met Charis in person.  Well, I introduced myself to her while waiting in line for the bathroom (a portable, mind you) at a friend’s wedding last April.  She is the niece of my Pastor and his wife.  I began following her blog when I was just a newbie blogger.  I wonder if she thought I was stalking her back then! Anyways, I just love her blog.  She has a heart for 24/7 worship and prayer (as do I).  And I love the way she shares the Word of God from her own life’s experiences. She has the most precious children and a fabulous Etsy store!  I will allow Charis to tell you more about herself.

Tell me a little bit about yourself?

I am a 32 year old mama of 4 little boys ranging in age 7 to 1.  I was a 2nd grade teacher before becoming a mama and have my B.A. in Music.  My husband and I have been in full-time ministry the past several years starting a House of Prayer in Redding, CA.  We are intercessory missionaries, which means apart from teaching a couple guitar and piano lessons, we live 100% on support from partners, just like those who are on the mission field oversees.  Our mission is to build up night and day prayer in our region that will sustain until the return of Jesus.

I love music, reading, gardening, making things (mostly knit and crochet right now), cooking healthy (or healthier) foods that taste good, art, acoustic instruments, the ocean, rivers, my family, chocolate, good coffee with real cream, teas, doing outdoors stuff with my kids, dates with my hubby, worshiping Jesus, writing, color… not in any particular order and surely leaving things out.

What is the purpose of your blog?

My husband and my sister were the ones who first encouraged me to blog.  I love to write and would love to write books someday. For now I use my blog as a means to encourage others in their pursuit of learning what it is to live wholehearted for the Lord and to seek His face as the number one thing.  I do not claim by any means to have this figured out yet.  As I press on, however, I want to share what I learn and encourage others to share their journeys as well so that we can all encourage each other to keep pressing on in what it really means to be followers and lovers of Jesus.

What are you passionate about?

It is so easy to give a trite answer because passion is such an overused word these days, describing everything from God to coffee.  What would I like to be passionate about?  I would like to be a passionate worshiper and lover of Jesus.  I know that is a journey and not an easy one, but one well worth the cost.  I also would like my life to show that I was passionate about raising my kids to be lovers of God and the ones described in the Revelation of Jesus as overcomers who have great reward forever.  I want them to walk the narrow path and never stray because they have tasted of authentic relationship with their Creator and the Lover of their souls.  I also want to be one who was known for having a passion for loving and serving His people.

Who or what inspires you?

King David and Moses, my parents, my husband, Jesus.

What else would you like my readers to know about you?

I love to hear feedback!  Every comment adds so much to the discussion and encourages other readers and me.

I am offering one fortunate reader a $20 credit to Charis’ Etsy shop, at the gate.

i love all the same things you do, except for the handiwork.
never could get myself to knit or crochet.   my passion is
for music, especially worship but also classical.

my greatest  blessing is that two of my five are singer/song-
writers, and all five love the Lord.

Hi Lea!  Although I wish I could make hand made items, my passions I never learned.  Although, I do dabble in painting.  I love worship as well, and hope to some day learn to play piano.  That’s so wonderful that your children are singing for the Lord!

I love the earthy flower crochet head band. Cute stuff over there! I hope she gets lots of exposure through this post. Sweet of you to help get the word out. Hope you’re having a great summer, Barbie. I’ve missed your blog lately. Glad to be back reading.

What a beautiful person of faith! Thank you for giving us a glimpse of her life. I’m not entering the contest, but my favorite thing in her shop is the cream and beige flower headband. It has a rather medieval look to it:)
