Today, I am so excited to introduce you to a lady who makes me laugh and smile. She is one of those gems in this big world of blogging whose neck I would love to hug. She is always positive, no matter what storm may come her way. Her faith in God and her sense of humor keep me on my toes!
Introducing Lea of Cici’s Corner!
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am a native Virginian and when Hubby and I married, we settled in his hometown in Northeast Louisiana. My Dad was a Baptist minister and where some children really resent that, I always felt very special because of it. I’m not sure why, but I always looked at my life as one big adventure as our family moved from one pastorate to another. I am the oldest of 3 children and the only girl. I have been married for 41 years and we are the proud parents of a son (35 years old) and a daughter (33 years old), and I have one Grandson and one Granddaughter. I enjoy keeping a clean and organized home, having fun with family and friends, ministering to those that cross my path, involvement in my church, snapping pictures every chance I get and some solitude to keep my focus on HIM.
How long have you been blogging and how/why did you start?
I began blogging in March of 2009. When my first Grandchild was born in Oct. of 2008 I decided that I was going to keep a journal for him. Out of that thought came the idea of beginning a blog. I had no idea whatsoever what I was doing but little by little I figured it out and it has become one of my favorite past times.
What is the purpose of your blog?
As the tagline on my blog states, “Glimpses into the life of a Southern Gal.” I want to share “tid bits” of my life with those that stop by to read and I hope I can bring them both inspiration and enjoyment.
What do you most enjoy about blogging?
Oh, meeting all the wonderful folks. I would have never dreamed that I would develop such deep friendships through a blog. I count my “blogging buddies” as some of my dearest friends. There are those that inspire me beyond words and there are those that always lighten my heart as they share their lives. I enjoy all the variety of the blogs that I follow and it’s always fun to read a new blog and make a new friend.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about several things but none more important than my Lord and Savior. He has done so much for me and I try to make sure that I reflect Him in all that I do and say each day. Now, that is not the case because I am human and I stumble and fall but it is my heart’s desire. I try to live with JOY – Jesus first, others second and myself last. A lot easier said than done.
Who or what inspires you?
I am inspired by the stories of other people’s lives. We all have a story and I so enjoy hearing those stories and finding out what makes someone “tick” and why they are who they are. We are all made up of all of life’s happenings and so many of those are inspiring. We never know what someone has lived through, walked through or been through until we know their story.
Tell us something random about yourself.
For 3 years (about 5 years ago) I had a gift packaging business. I have always enjoyed wrapping presents and making them as pretty as I possibly could. Friends would say that I should start a business, so I decided to give it a whirl. I created all manners of packages and enjoyed every minute of it but the time came to lay it aside. It was a fun and creative outlet for me. My husband had an extra room at his office building and he let me have it “rent free” and I worked from there. It was called, “It’s a Wrap.” Wasn’t that cute?
Share with us one of your favorite posts and what you love about it.
Oh, I do not even have to think about this one. It would be the “Bra Fitting” (yes, you read that correctly) on June 18, 2010 (http://www.ciciscorner.com/2010/06/bra-fitting.html) It is hysterically funny and something that every woman can certainly enjoy and some can relate to. It was a first for me and I just could not help but blog about it.
