Where I Find Comfort: {Five Minute Friday} — 45 Comments

  1. A flood of tears…
When I long to be heard, to know that what I have to say matters,
I am reminded that He inclines His ear to me and is attentive to my voice.
This…this is what I cling to and it’s what God is teaching me. He REALLY does hear me…and he cares… <3

  2. Amen! Beautifully written. He is the One that truly brings comfort. Found you at FMF (but also see you blog for Exodus Road and Compassion…I’ve read your blog before…so do I…love it.) Blessings!

    • Thanks for stopping by Kirsten. I just began blogging for both Exodus Road and Compassion. Hopefully will get more regular with it soon. Praying you had a beautiful day!

  3. Barbie, this post just wrapped me up and brought a feeling of love and security. Yes! I love being reminded that all of these things are only hints at how much God shows His eternal love for us. Loved, loved these thoughts on comfort from you.

  4. I’m comforted by the call of a cardinal – those iced and hot coffee moments, zinnias in a mason jar – and you are right – that’s only superficial comfort:) However, they become more when I read the love letters in those things from Him to me:) Wishing you a happy Mother’s Day filled with His blessings!

  5. This was quite simply beautiful. I could go on and on but I think that first sentence pretty much says it all. This should be published somewhere. Like, in hardcopy print. 🙂

  6. Girl… you so get me! I love ALL of these things and find (fleeting) comfort in them as well… but oh how I love that when we most need a comfort that lasts, we have direct access to the Comforter Himself and He loves to swoop right in close! Love you sweet friend!

    • Ah, I love the picture I get of Him swooping in to meet us where we need it the most. Have a blessed week Karrilee!

  7. Dear Barbie
Oh, I agree with the coffee comfort. On a hot day there is nothing better than an iced coffee, the sort made with ice cream. I believe that our God is the provider of all these things and people that bring comfort to our souls in this broken world.
    Much love to you

  8. I loved this Barbie and I could identify. I’m sipping my cup of coffee right now. I considered joining in this morning but instead wrote about nurses and teachers week.

    Blessings and love,

  9. Many of the things you listed bring me comfort, too…in fact, I think you and I would have a great time having coffee (with a side of chocolate), a chat, and watching the rain fall. (That’s one of my very favorite things.) 🙂 But thank you for the reminder of where we really do find our comfort…I forget it sometimes. Blessings, sweet friend! Have a beautiful weekend!

    • Oh that would be wonderful, sitting and sipping coffee with you, listening to the rain fall. Praying you have a beautiful week.

  10. What a beautiful reminder you’ve shared here friend. There are so many other things that we look to for comfort when He is there waiting with open arms. I so love your heart on a page. Thanks for sharing. Blessings and much love.
