Humble Beginnings: My Homeschool Space — 15 Comments

  1. Your home is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. I love how everything has its own place. I’m working on trying to get that done right now. Have a blessed week!

  2. I so admire you homeschooling moms….not for the faint of heart and truly a worthy endeavor. Thanks for letting us take a peek into your daily life. Stopping over from Lisa Kerner’s place…

  3. Barbie, this looks like a great space for homeschooling. Gosh, I remember when you started homeschooling and how it all seemed so overwhelming, and look at you now! So glad this working.

    • Maria, there you are! I wasn’t sure at first I knew you. Popped over to your blog and knew I recognized that face. Thanks for your encouragement and now I am off to follow your blog!

  4. Oh, I love it, Barbie- and have been working on our space as well. Hmm, perhaps when my daughter wants to listen to some music of her own I will allow it at times. Will see. I sometimes play classical but she asks and says it helps her focus. Arguable but I will consider. I hope to link up mine, but we are still organizing and I want to make something special for the wall…so hope I can join the hop asap! You are such an encouragement to me!

    • I totally understand about the music thing. I am really learning to choose my battles with my girl, as she still is longing for “real school” as she puts it. But I know that is where God has us, at least for this season. Link up girl! My command center wall isn’t done yet either!

  5. This is an awesome space!!! You inspire me to homeschool some day. My mom (a math professor) swears that I can’t do it, insisting I don’t have enough patience. :/ Some day. Maybe. If we can afford it. Life is so expensive these days. 🙁

    • Oh patiences, I don’t have much of that. All it takes is a desire and passion. If I can do it while working full time, with an unemployed husband (for the most part) you can too! 🙂

  6. I love your humble space, Barbie! It is quite similar to mine. We use the dining room table and couch as our main spaces as well. The dining room is a bit tight for a bookshelf so I keep school books on the bookcase in the living room and supplies in the hall closet. It’s not perfect but with a smallish house it works for us and we can put it away at the end of the day. I have clutter I just don’t always like to see it 🙂 We did put a desk in my 8th grade daughter’s room so she could work in there- she likes her music too!!
