Inspired Art

Welcome to 31 Days of Art & Inspiration

I have always loved art.  When I was a child I was really good at drawing Snoopy and other characters from the Peanuts gang. I didn’t have a lot of opportunities to engage in art as a child, and soon I lost my zest for color combinations and told myself I didn’t have an eye to create anything beautiful.

I have always attended a church that embraces the arts.  About 5 years ago, myself and another gal at church led a woman’s dance ministry. I never had any dance training, aside from the few years I took tap at the local community center.  So I relied on the Lord for creative movement.  Our dances were beautiful, often moving people to tears.  It was then that I realized that God had called me to the arts.  When you seek Him for wisdom and revelation and get out of the way, He will use you for His glory.

We have an arts ministry at our church where people paint during worship services, relying on not just skill, but the revelation of the Lord to put forth color on canvass and bring glory to His Name.  Over the last several years, I’ve been privileged to be a part of this ministry. With no formal training whatsoever, I cringed every time I tried to pick up a paint brush and paint something.  It never turned out the way I saw it in my head.  Frustration grew and I thought perhaps this wasn’t what I was supposed to do.  As I have grown over the years in both my prophetic gifting and as an artist, I have come to realize that I am an abstract artist. Abstract exists as a thought or an idea but doesn’t have a physical or concrete existence. Abstract art can mean different things to different people, which is what I love about it.

I paint 99.5 percent of the time with my fingers and hands.  Sounds strange, I know, but it suits this girl who feels awkward using a paint brush. I offer my hands to the Lord before the worship service, ask Him to help me pick colors and then, together with the movement of the music and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, I create.

The Lord told me it was time to share my art with you!  I’ve had some of it here on the blog, hidden where you wouldn’t find it unless you were looking.  So I am going to put it out there, with scripture, and maybe a few words, and pray you are blessed and inspired!

I hope you will join me for this series.  There will be a few FREE prints along the way!

Beginning tomorrow you can access all of the posts in this series here.

We have people who do worship art at our church, as well. I LOVE seeing what they create. And I love reading here that you do most of yours with your hands. 🙂 What a beautiful offering to Him!

Blessings to you as you share your art and His Word married together in this series!
