There are words laying dormant in the deep places of my heart. I know they are there, for God’s Word lives in me. It is God who breathes life on the words that I share here in this space. Yet, I feel as if I don’t have much to give by way of words right now. For whatever reason, I am devoid of creativity to pull them to the surface. Life is busy, a little stressful and I’m feeling a lot of melancholy. Perhaps it is not time to awaken what has been deposited yet. Perhaps these words just need a little more time to soak and bathe in His truth and light. I want so desperately to write, to share His heart, to share my heart, yet He says, “Cease from your striving and rest.”
I’ve pushed and shoved my way through the week and now I am out of steam. I know a time of rest is in order, as well as a time to be revived and restored in His presence. So, that is what I will do. I will not worry about the blog, the words, or my social media outlets. I’ll read when I want to, post status updates when I want to and write when the inspiration comes. I never want to write just for the sake of writing. For me it’s not about stats, likes or comments, although I love engaging with you! I want my words to be life giving and hope releasing. I want to always encourage your heart and give you glimpses of His love and sprinkles of His grace. Oh how I need His grace today!
For now, I leave you with some of my favorite promises form His Word:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28)
“Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.” (Psalm 116:7)
Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. (1 Peter 5:10)
Your promise revives me; it comforts me in all my troubles. (Psalm 119:50)
For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite. (Isaiah 57:15)
How about you, my friends? What scriptures bring you comfort when you find yourself needing to rest, to be revived and restored in His presence?
