Unstoppable: Review & Giveaway

As a mom, I am always interested in films that will share the truth of God’s Word in a way that my children can understand way.  When I first became aware of the film, “Unstoppable”, starring Kirk Cameron, I was intrigued, and excited to take my teenagers to see it.  But unfortunately, the film was not going to be released in a theatre near me.  So I was very thankful to have been given the opportunity to review this DVD with my family.  (*This film is recommended for ages 12+.)

About the film.

Inspired by the death of Cameron’s close friend who succumbed to cancer at the age of 15, Kirk Cameron takes viewers on an inspiring and hope-filled visual journey to better understand the biggest doubt-raising question in faith: “Where is God in the midst of tragedy and suffering?”  Going back to the beginning—literally—Kirk investigates the origins of good and evil and how they impact our lives … and our eternities. UNSTOPPABLE will prompt audiences to consider the role that pain and suffering has in our lives, as they affirm their personal views on faith, and encourage conversation starters about God, suffering, and hope.

My thoughts.

Overall, my family enjoyed this film.  We were surprised that it was a documentary.  I think we were expecting more of a movie, but it made sense that it was a documentary given the subject matter.  The film displayed beautiful cinematography which my creative family could appreciate.  I love the way that Kirk brought the truth of God’s love to light through the film.  It will open your eyes and your heart to understand that even in the midst of heartache and suffering, there is a God of love who cares, who will never leave you, and has a bigger plan.

Thanks for the review on this movie by Kirk Cameron. I have been curious as to what it was about and how well it was made, etc. I like that you said that Kirk goes back to the beginning (literally) to discuss good and evil and how they impact us. So, rather than just opinion, it sounds like Kirk is backing it up with Biblical fact. Thanks again for posting the review!

    Blessings, Joan

P.S. When I saw Fireproof several years ago, it strongly impacted me. So, I’d say at this point, that is my favorite movie with Kirk Cameron.

Sounds like a wonderful documentary. I think about that at times… will my faith stand in the face of a great loss. It scares me. Since accepting Christ, while I’ve had some dark times, there hasn’t been something to rock me to the core. I’m thankful for that but it still leaves me wondering…and maybe what makes me seek Him with all my might.
    Love you,

I’ve thought about this as well Beth. I pray that I may be rooted and grounded in Him, that my feet would be placed on the solid rock so as not to be moved should devastation hit. Love you!

So excited to see this review, as this is a film I have been eager to see since hearing about it before it went to theaters. I’m not able to do theater movies, so I’m eager to see it on DVD. Kirk does some wonderful work in getting the word of God out to people. My favorite movie of his is definitely Fireproof.
