Friends, today I am excited to have Mary Geisen of Passage Through Grace writing for The Weekend Brew. As I stated here, Mary has agreed to come along side of me in this season to not only write periodically for TWB, but to visit blogs and respond to comments. I am grateful not only for this partnership, but for her friendship. She is a gift to me from the Lord. If you don’t already know Mary, I hope you will visit her blog and find her on social media. You want to have this girl as your friend.
One knock and a moment later a voice calls from somewhere within the house – “Come on in the door’s open!” I swing open the door, cross the threshold into an inviting array of warm colors, enveloping warmth, delicious smells and a spirit of love. A moment later I am caught in a hug from my friend and my thought is… this is home!
Another day I’m wandering in a massive atrium doubling as a lobby-hundreds of people are milling about and the sky is visible through the plated glass windows and skylights. With luggage trailing behind, I furtively seek one familiar face to appear before me. I struggle to pull my phone from my pocket while balancing the bags I have loaded on my shoulders. Just as I pull the phone free from my pocket, I turn and see the one face that signals familiar and friendly. I call her name and one big hug later I realize… this is home!

Now close your eyes and picture the beautiful home that Barbie has created and lovingly invited you to enter each weekend. With a cup of coffee or tea you come and sit for awhile to share words, encouragement and God’s truths. The welcoming spirit radiates through your open hearts and acceptance of God in the middle of it all. Your voices – your love – your encouragement opens the door to the heart of why this weekend community exists and I know… this is home! Home is sitting at the knees of Jesus, embracing His story as your own. Soak in God’s words below and allow Him to infuse you with His light and fellowship as we share our stories and hearts.
I am blessed to sit here with you all to listen to your stories and learn your hearts. In the sharing of our stories may God’s words intertwine through all and shine for His glory. May we listen well, encourage others and love on each other as a family in community does so well. May my words and each of yours bless all who come and sit here with us at The Weekend Brew and may God be present in the beginning, middle and end of our stories.
