Embrace Day 23 // Five Minute Free Writes “Blowout”
Some days I feel as if I’m holding my breath, and along with it I’m holding onto all in my life that is hurtful, stressful and worrisome. There is an art to the practice of deep breathing, the kind where the inhales and exhales of life allow those shoulders to loosen and you realize that simply through breathing, you’ve released every care you’ve carried for the day.
Breathing is essential to life, but I just don’t want to breathe, I want to breathe powerfully. There is something about inhaling, taking deep cleansing breathes, and allowing the Holy Spirit to flood your soul with the peace that surpasses all understanding. Many days though, I breathe to exist and therefore I miss the peace that has been promised to me.
blowout – a sudden or violent escape of air, steam, or the like.
God desires that we cast every burden and release every care to Him. We were not meant to carry such weight, and although we may have gone through the act of releasing and laying down, if we continue to hold our breath due to such matters, it will make us sick, depressed and anxious.
In order to fully release what it is that is weighing us down, we must breathe Him in, exhaling every thought, hurt and emotion that does not align itself with the truth of His Word. At the same time, we must blowout, fully releasing and letting go what we’ve been holding onto — stress, worry, pain, wrong thinking.
So, the next time you feel as if you are going to burst from the lack of the release of air, try this:
Stand up
and cast your face towards the sun.
Lean back
and breathe Him in.
Blowout all the
stress and worry of the day.
He’s got you
and will not let you go.
Are you due for a good blowout today?
