Embrace Day 5 // Five Minute Free Writes “Silence”
Life is busy. Sometimes it’s hard to breathe. Head spinning, I can feel the weight of the day and the days that lie ahead. I keep myself running, empty, forgetting to stop and be filled.
Noise, it brings both comfort and dread.
The silence, in many ways, it scares me. What will happen if I stop, slow down, turn off the noise? Will I hear what it is that is truly in my heart, on my mind, in my soul.
But mostly, I fear what God may say.
Is He pleased with me?
Am I doing enough?
Am I good enough?
Are His purposes being fulfilled in me?
In a world rich with chaos, silence is a welcome visitor. It comes in slowly and beckons to take it’s place beside us. It wants to remove all the stress, care and worry of the day and provide soul-searching moments for us to realign ourselves with the truth.
Silence is not the absence of something, but the presence of everything.
Everything meaningful is held together in silence,
Everything meaningful is held together in silence, #write31days Click To TweetThe whisper of a prayer.
The conception of a child.
The thought of a dream.
The life given in a breath.
I have to choose the silence, to quiet my mind and listen for the voice of the One who longs to be heard. Here, in the silence, He is speaking.
Am I listening?
This post is part of a 31 Day series entitled Embrace, where I will be sharing images, quotes and words that I hope will stir your soul. You can find each post in this series here. Together, let’s embrace every day and the beauty that each one holds.
“Everything meaningful is held together in silence” yes! To take the slow down moments to really listen. Beautiful quote and picture! Visiting from #write31days. Blessings.
I am blessed by your visit Jenneth!
I love the richness of these words: “Silence is not the absence of something, but the presence of everything” and all they convey about how loudly silence speaks to us. This is such a beautiful post, Barbie, a quiet reflective treat. I need more silence than I often allow myself to have. In silence we hear our own heartbeat and heart’s desires, our loneliness and lowliness before God, our fragile humanity and enhanced spirituality. May you rest in sacred silent spaces in the days ahead. Bless you. <3
“Sacred, silent spaces.” I love this Joy. I certainly want to learn to rest more, to be still, to listen to the silence. Have a blessed week.
