Looking Toward Hope // Glimpses Link Up — 21 Comments

  1. I did not celebrate Advent as a child, either, and didn’t hear of it until I was married and had several kids. We started celebrating it years ago with a wreath and readings. This year we’re a little behind, but I hope to have our wreath ready by the 2nd Sunday in Advent.

Thanks for hosting this linkup! Blessings to you, Barbie!

  2. I am just now learning about Advent but it is really neat. We are going to make Jesus a birthday cake this year I think! Have a great season, Barbie and ps: love your list of thanks at the bottom!

  3. I am going to use The Greatest Gift for the first time as well, Barbie. 🙂 I hope we will together delve into a deeper relationship with Christ Jesus! How exciting to have a new grandbaby on the way! 🙂 Advent blessings and hugs to you!

  4. Barbie, I never celebrated Advent either as a child, nor as a new believer in my home church. It’s something that has crept up on me since I’ve been blogging and had my eyes open to different faith practices. Like you, I’ve written a series in the past, but this year finds me seeking rest most of all, reading a few books that steer my heart in the right direction, looking for the Light and remembering the glorious Hope we have in Jesus. These words are so true: “my hope is IN Christ, not in anything of this world.” Amen! I hope to catch a few of your Advent posts. Thank you for reminding us just where our hope lies. May you be blessed by peace and joy as you lean harder into the Hope of Advent and into the wonder of the Incarnation of Christ. xo <3

  5. We are in such similar season of life that each of your post blesses me, it reminds me others are going through the same thing. Holidays where all are not present. Even though I had five of my children with us on Thanksgiving I missed the one who was with his in-laws. I am slowly learning how to adjust. Great post…as our family’s grow up!

  6. You WROTE! 🙂 Hooray. I know how you have been struggling girl, so happy to see this post. 🙂 Love you sharing some of your heart about your home growing up. Hope you had a great Turkey Day!

  7. Advent is something I’ve only really begun to understand in the last few years, but I love the focus on hope and it’s important to remember that our true hope is found in Jesus, whatever our circumstances.
