When Rest Takes Over // Glimpses Link Up — 30 Comments

  1. I like to think we’re getting wiser when we give ourselves permission to slow down and rest when we need to. I haven’t even tried to do a 31 day series in several years. I’ve gone to blogging once a week as I have more going on and it was too hard to do more than than. I’m glad you’re resting and blogging when you can. Blessings!

  2. Sorry you are having such a struggle with your fibro. Rest well, dear sister. Hope you’ll be over this flare up soon
Have you ever tried adding natural anti-inflammatory substances to your regimen like turmeric? It helps some people; you can either eat it or take it in capsule form.
    Anyway, get better soon.
I love your list of beauty in your daily life, especially 187 and 190.

  3. I’m so sorry you’re so worn out and in pain, Barbie. Please do listen to your body and spirit and allow yourself to rest. Yes, we will still be here. And if you need to, let those last five posts go. You won’t be letting God down. Or me either. Whatever you write is always an encouragement to me. So please allow yourself grace, ok? I know I need to practice that myself… Anyway, I’m praying God will give you rest in every way and ease the pain in your joints! Hugs!

  4. I am sorry you are in so much pain Barbie. I can tell you that it can take 3-4 months of the Whole 30 living to really help deal with some of the more serious issues. For me it was 6 months and I’d be happy to share/chat more about that lifestyle/eating if you wanna talk! 🙂 Praying for you this am that you find rest literally and in Jesus today!

  5. Oh sweet friend! I’m praying you find renewal in rest. God is so good to provide what we need. As women we try on our super woman capes often. God does not ask us to do that. Love you and hang in there.

  6. Sorry to hear you have had such a rough go! ☹️ I am certainly no fibro expert, but my twin was diagnosed with severe fibromyalgia at the age of 17. She has pretty much completely managed it with diet and exercise to the point she doesn’t have a lot of symptoms anymore. keep going!

    • Diet and exercise are huge in fighting this. It’s hard for me to exercise though right now, because I’m in so much pain. Hopefully soon!

  7. Rest. Yes, please get your rest, dear friend. I know very personally the value in getting rest. It is healing – mentally and physically. I don’t believe it was ever God’s plan for us to be as busy as we allow ourselves to be. He typically forces me to rest periodically, probably because without forcing the issue, He knows I would not make the choice to rest on my own. Lol! I hope you’ve enjoyed taking time for yourself, and I pray you will continue to do so. Miss you, dear friend!

  8. Barbie, you are wise to listen to your body and your life. By paying attention to those things, and taking all the rest you need, you will hopefully halt some of the intense pain you’ve been experiencing. Praying for deep rest of every kind, freedom from concern over things that can be left for a while and some sweet relief from the relentless pain. Take good care of yourself, sweet friend. <3

  9. It’s so hard to determine food triggers. Going off gluten has been a life=changer for me. But everyone is different. I hope you can narrow it down to what is triggering your pain. Praying for you, dear one.

  10. “There have been nights where I didn’t even open my computer. It’s been weird, but it’s been so freeing.” I’ve done this during the day lately and have been surprised at how much more I get done at home. It is a very freeing feeling.

Blessings to you, Barbie, and I pray you get the rest you need!

  11. Barbie,
I am not one of those “energizer bunnies” that can keep going and going…it seems like my battery runs out quicker than the batteries of others. It’s easy to get down on myself for this, but we are all wired differently. I’m learning to be kinder to myself and if I am able…I allow myself a nap to refresh and revive. It’s not a crime. We are no good to God if we’re running on empty, so be good to yourself my friend…you encourage us, so let us encourage you!!
    Blessings,
    Bev xx

    • Oh Bev, what I wouldn’t give to be able to nap during the day, if even for just 15-20 mins. But alas, I’d get fired if I tried! Have a blessed week.

  12. I’ve been so busy lately as well – with good things, but it means something else had to go to make room, and for me it was the blog and social media. I did just the basics and was surprised at how comfortable I was with that. Thankfully I didn’t have any reviews during the past couple of weeks, because that would have made it difficult. But rest is necessary, and I’m glad you’re at peace with taking the time you need to do that.

I’m always thankful for coffee too. 😉
