Thrilled to be back writing among the beautiful Five Minute Friday community. This is were we write for just five minutes, on a word prompt. We don’t worry about perfection or making it just right, but rather allow the words to flow freely without over thinking. If you’ve never written for the Five Minute Friday, come join us. You will be glad you did!
Setting my time for 5 minutes.
I’m finally sitting down to relax after a long day of work, helping my son with his math and wrapping presents. I still have some shopping to do, but am thankful that most of my gifts will soon be arriving at my doorstep. Last minute preparations are in place to celebrate Christmas with family and friends.
Now is the time for reflection. I have had a hard time staying focused lately, but His gentle leading always brings me back to the place of His presence, where it’s just me and Him. There I here His gentle whispers to be still, to let go and to live in the moment. As I whisper a prayer now, this is what I hear:
“Now is the time for love.”
There are so many people hurting this season. Some have lost loved ones. Many are walking through health issues. Still others are estranged from family and friends, or without employment, and feel hopeless. We must be wiling to step outside of our comfort zone and reach out to offer hope those in need. We offer hope to others by showing Christ’s love in tangible ways.We offer hope to others by showing Christ's love in tangible ways. #fmfparty Click To Tweet
“Now is the time for forgiveness.”
This world is filled with anger, strife, bitterness and resentment. And really, it’s in many of our lives if we allow ourselves a moment of self-reflection. I know there are things I need to work on. Let’s all agree to disagree, forgive one another and move on to those things that are really important.
“Now is the time for new beginnings.”
Life is too short to live looking backwards. I believe God wants to move us forward into new seasons, filled with hope and dreams realized, more than we could ever dare to believe. Although you may be living through a winter season, be reminded that He makes all things new.Life is too short to live looking backwards. #fmfparty Click To Tweet
“Now is the time to commit.”
I don’t know about you, but I’ve lived this last year somewhere between lazy and mediocre as far as spiritual disciplines are concerned. I’m not afraid to admit that, because I believe that there are others walking the same path. But now is not the time to shrink back and allow fear and guilt to overwhelm. Now is the time to get up, dust off your boots, and run hard after God again.
*I think I went over my 5 minute allotment of time. But that’s okay, because God was speaking and I wanted to soak up every word.
