When Beauty Fades // Glimpses Link Up — 30 Comments

  1. I’m so glad to come to your blog this evening, Barbie! I love your new look! So beautiful.

YES! to this: “Even though sometimes beauty appears to have faded, I know that I must simply look beyond what my natural eye can see.”

    • Thank you for coming over Betsy! This is actually an old look that I’ve resurrected. something about my header image that brings a smile to my face! Blessings!

    • Thanks Lois. I designed this one a while ago and recently went back to it. I appreciate you! Have a blessed weekend.

  2. Sometimes we do need to look for beauty among the ordinary, don’t we? I’ve been committed to take 2 of my grandchildren to a summer camp for 4 hours each week-day for a month. It meant camping out at a nearby McDonald’s for 3 1/2 hours each morning. It has turned out to be like a mini-retreat of sorts … 3 1/2 hours of uninterrupted time to read, write & do blog tasks. An unexpected blessing!

  3. I just found your blog and love your list of beauty around you. We are so amazingly blessed and it is always a good idea to list them!!

  4. “So I will continue to look beyond the mess, beyond the hurt and pain. I will continue to reach for beauty because God has given me a beauty-filled life.” These are such inspiring thoughts, and such good reminders to look up to see Jesus. Blessings!

  5. It does seem that some weeks are harder to find the beauty, but I’m glad that you did, Barbie. It is a spiritual discipline that you are practicing. Thanks for sharing it with us. This is true: “It’s not what’s most becoming to the eye of the beholder that makes it so, rather, it’s the hidden treasure, what is found when we look beyond the natural, purposing to see beauty among the ordinary.”

  6. Sometimes it is hard to see the beauty. Sorry, you were struggling when you wrote this. One thing that helps me is if I write an , “I remember what God has done.” list. I find out I start crying out to God and end up thankful. Also another great way is to call it a day, go to bed and start out fresh the next day.

    Thank you for being real.

    • I do take the time to reflect on the many blessings in my life. It helps to have a thankful heart. Blessings to you Maree!

  7. Praying that you can take some time to get out into His world soon, my friend! The trip you’re planning next month sounds like the perfect opportunity 🙂 Have a blessed week, Barbie!

  8. What a great reminder that these are simply seasons we are walking through. That’s helpful to think about when I feel as if life will never be the same again. Of course it will never be the same because GOD is at work and He is doing a NEW thing! If you haven’t seen them already, I know you will begin to see glimpses of a new season dawning. It always works that way. Blessings to you Barbie.

  9. Barbie,
I’ve been cooped up for over 2 months now with recuperating from surgery and oh how I miss getting out into God’s world and seeing the beauty that is there. I think you should drop what you’re doing for an hour and go out, with your camera, and enjoy these glimpses of beauty all around us. I’ll live vicariously through you 🙂
    Blessings,
    Bev xx

    • I really should. Perhaps this weekend! Glad to hear you are moving along in the healing process. You have a new shoe!
