His Name Cannot Be Overcome // Glimpses Link Up

Today I have few words. My heart is heavy with the devastation in Texas, the current situation in Florida, the earthquake in Mexico, the mudslide in India and several fires burning in my beautiful California.

The world needs our prayers. I often think what could my little prayer do? But God hears every prayer — the weak, the mighty and those in between. He is listening and will bring peace and hope and restore what has been lost.

Today at church I was introduced to a new song, Tremble my Mosaic Music. As I sang the song and reflected upon the storms that are ranging in my own life, I couldn’t help but move into a deep place of intercession for those suffering right now around the world. The lyrics are so powerful, but one phrase struck me the most,

Your name is a light that the shadows can’t deny
Your name cannot be overcome
Your name is alive forever lifted high
Your name cannot be overcome

His name cannot be overcome. When we don’t know how to pray, we pray the Name of Jesus — the Name above every other Name. The Name with which we are all saved. The Name that brings comfort to the broken, sight to the blind, freedom to the captive.

When the storm rages and the waters rise, just pray His Name. He is waiting to rescue you.

I pray this song will bless you as it did me.

And now I continue to list the beauty that I’m finding in my every day life.

I agree, it’s heartbreaking to see all that’s happening in the world but God’s name cannot be overcome. We have to keep praying.

I have raised my head with wonder that God truly hears my prayers. We are blessed to have our God.
Barbie, I am a Native Californian too and have watched with saddened eyes and heart at the devastation that is happening to Yosemite and the NW and all around. I was a Navy child so was born in San Diego but have lived in many places in CA and consider it “home” more than anywhere else I have lived…even in TX where I have lived the longest.

It’s so very sad. Tonight it’s raining (with thunder an d lightening) so I’m praying this helps with the fires.

Hi Barbie. Thank you for this hope-filled post. It especially touches my heart that when we don’t know how to pray, all we need to do is pray Jesus’ name. “The Name that brings comfort to the broken, sight to the blind, freedom to the captive.” Amen! Praying His Name right now for all who are in some kind of storm or disaster, whether within or without! Blessings and hugs!

One time shortly after being saved I was in distress while sleeping. I managed to whisper the Name of Jesus, and the presence of evil fled. His Name is so very powerful.

The news is so overwhelming. I just can’t take in all the devastation in so many areas. All we can do is cry out to Him for help for people and for these things to somehow turn hearts to Him.

    1. Barbie says:

      So true Barbara!

  6. Bev @ Walking Well With God says:

Love the lyrics to this song…..I am emotionally exhausted waiting helplessly as my mom and cousins rode out the hurricane in Florida. They are all okay – some roof and other damage to homes, but praise for their safety. Jesus is the name that CANNOT be overcome…Praise!

    1. Barbie says:

Bev, I’m so thankful to hear that your family is safe with minimal damage. Will continue to pray for all of those affected. Hugs!

It is such troubling times to see all the suffering in the world. 🙁 It makes my heart heavy too. I’ve only heard Mosaic one time I’m my daughter’s church, but I’m listening to it again now. You find the best songs, Barbie! Thanks for sharing.

There are so many things to pray about. Sunday I found myself thanking God for dry streets in my corner of Texas, but we know that there are many who are struggling to clean up and rebuild. May we stay faithful in prayer and allow God to do what only He can.

    1. Barbie says:

So thankful you are safe. Yes, so many are hurting. I am thankful for the comfort that He brings.

It’s been a heavy week, indeed, friend. It is difficult sometimes in the midst of the big to remember the personal and intimate love that He has for each of us. Thank you for always directing us back to that truth. I’m so glad to hear that this school year is starting off good for your boy! Blessings on your week!

    1. Barbie says:

So late in linking up! There are enough “things” in our world to keep us awake at night, aren’t there?

    1. Barbie says:

Never too late. Thankful to have you!
