Matthew West “All In” CD Review & Giveaway

I love to worship and new worship music is always a blessing. I cannot tell you how excited I was for the opportunity to review Matthew West’s new CD, All In.

Matthew’s Heart Behind the Album

Matthew wrote his new album All In with the goal of encouraging himself and others to get up off the sidelines of their faith and really live it out – to go all in in your time with God, all in with your family, all in with your community, and all in battling your fears that may hold you back from becoming who God made you to be.

Matthew launched a 6-week All in Challenge on his social media starting 9/18, and each week Matthew will be challenging his fans to go all in in a different part of their lives. What does it look like when a heart that knows Jesus takes a step and holds nothing back? How can we go All In in the places that mean the most?

My Thoughts

I was familiar with Matthew West from his song Hello My Name Is from his album Into the Light from 2012. Most recently, my favorite Christian radio station has been playing Broken Things from the All In album. This song is so my heart.  For so long I didn’t feel worthy of God’s love or to receive anything good from Him.  I often feel like a beggar, standing before a King.  I am broken and bruised, but God still chooses to use me.

Now I’m just a beggar in the presence of a King
I wish I could bring so much more.
But if it’s true You use broken things
The here I am Lord, I’m all Yours.

Here is a video of this song.

Another song that really touched me was The Beautiful Things We Miss. I’ve spent the last sevearl years of my life looking for the beauty of God among the ordinary. If we don’t have our eyes open to it, it’s so easy to miss.  Having four children, all who are nearly grown, it made me stop and think about how fleeting life is and how they grow up so fast. I don’t want to miss another moment of their growing up lives. I don’t want to miss the beauty of God that surrounds me.

I don’t want to look back some day and find
everything that really mattered
was right in front of me this whole time.

Open up my eyes, Lord.
Keep me in the moment just like this
before the beautiful things we love
become the beautiful things we miss.

Here is Matthew’s story behind the song The Beautiful Things We Miss.

I can’t end this review without sharing the video from the title song, All In, also one of my favorites!

I really enjoyed this album. So many of the songs touch my heart, and there are some catchy and moving lyrics throughout. I really enjoyed the song that Matthew sings with his daughter, Lulu, Becoming Me. It is so precious.

I love the song Broken Things. For many years I felt ashamed of my brokenness. I am now starting to realize that God does not want me to hide my brokenness, but rather give those broken pieces to Him. Thank you for sharing this Barbie.

    1. Barbie says:

That’s so true. If we don’t give our brokenness to Him, He can’t make beautiful things out of the dust of our lives. Blessings!
