Weight loss is a multi-billion dollar industry, and it seems as if everyone is out to make a dollar when it comes to your desire to shed unwanted pounds. There are so many options that it can be very overwhelming to choose the right fit for you. Before exploring your options, consider these questions:
- How fast do I want to lose the weight?
- How will it affect my pocket book?
- Is it sustainable (meaning, can I keep it off when I go off program?).
- Is it healthy?
- Is there education and support (online or in person)?
Now, I have been through the diet chain. I’ve tried most everything out there. If done the pills, the no carb, low carb, no meat, Whole30, Weight Watchers, Keto…..the list goes on. As I was in my “Yo-Yo dieting” stage, it became clear to me that I was desperate for a solution that would work for me without putting too many restrictions on what I couldn’t eat. I find that when I have too many restrictions, or when a program tells me I can’t have something, then it’s an immediate fail for me.
I find that if I have too many restrictions then I am setting myself up for failure. Click To Tweet
I love what I am doing now because along with logging my food and weighing every day, I am learning so much about the psychology behind why I eat what I eat. It also promotes tangible, sustainable life-style shifts which are helping me to continue to lose. It works for me, but it may not be for you.
Before you embark on a weight loss journey, take some time to explore your options. Take your lifestyle into account, your emotions and triggers, any health issues you have, etc. Give whatever you try a good 3-4 weeks to see if it just may be a good fit for you. Then, give it all you got!
Have you been exploring your options in your weight loss and/or health journey? I’d love to hear. Leave me a comment so we can chat.
